ALL ABOUT THE DYNO TUNING

Dyno Tuning Edmonton: Dyno tuning is an organized and systematic way to tune-up an engine. Dyno tuning gives the engine tune-up of unmatched quality. It allows the engine to perform more smoothly, robustly and in optimum condition.

For Dyno tuning the very first and important point is to ask the customer if the vehicle has any specific problem at any critical point. The problem can be like a problem in gas mileage, feeling a lack of power, and difficulty in starting in hot or cold and if there is any missing issue.

After getting all the details from the customer about the condition of the engine and overall car comes the phase of determining the engine compression. It is very important to check that the engine is technically sound. Along with this, the overall health check of the vehicle should be taken care. The operator should check for soaked oil, damaged plug wires, and dirty carburetor, etc.

Next step is to determine the spark plug heat range. The spark plug used for a truck that is used for trailer or camper purposes should have a cooler spark plug than an empty truck.

After deciding the spark plug, the distributor is placed in Synchrograph. This Synchrograph  is a machine that tests the distributor thoroughly and dynamically. After the placement of the distributor the following steps should be taken:

  • Make sure that the distributor is mechanically sound.
  • Modify the centrifugal advance rate. This is important to check the engine’s pulling power and responsiveness.
  • Set the vacuum to max to ensure the maximum fuel mileage.
  • Completely check the ignition components and replace if deemed necessary.
  • Test the distributor with Synchrograph in the real time operating conditions. In the vehicle, when synchrograph is placed, it functions properly. This process is called recurving the distributor.

The next phase is to place the vehicle on the dynamometer. When on the dynamometer vehicle’s wheels rest on the dyno rollers. Now the vehicle’s wheels are moved with the gears and tested with various loads and speed conditions. With this test engine’s performance is tested by comparing the engine vacuum with the horsepower generated to the wheels. Simultaneously the carburetor is checked for proper air/fuel Carburetion. On the runtime of the test, the circuits are adjusted to produce the optimum efficiency.

The processes take approximately six or seven hours to complete. When done a detailed test sheet is generated for Dyno tune-up specifications.
